How can I even THINK about writing a blog about cocktails without Margaritas??? It’s summer in the Northwest….It’s beautiful outside, and nothing screams summer more to me than Icy Cold Fresh Fruity Margaritas that take me back to Mexico…except…I’m on the Oregon Coast at Pacific City. PC is one of my favorite places to visit on the Oregon Coast. It is a quaint coastal city with beautiful beaches with amazing vistas….and most important…my family. My sister and I are notorious for tearing it up in the kitchen, and this weekend is no different. Her yard is inviting for entertaining. A roaring fire is blazing to stave off the cool summer coastal evening. Gypsy Kings are playing softly on Pandora…and Fish Tacos are lovingly being prepared. The fish is fresh line caught and smells sweet of the Pacific Ocean…OH…so many jewels here on the Oregon Coast.
My sister Julie…created this recipe. She frequents the local Fruteria (Valley Fresh Produce – the local fruit and produce market outside Tillamook) where they sell the freshest fruits and veggies you can find in the area. Her inspiration for this delicious margarita came from the bounty offered at the Fruteria…Here’s how she made it:
Margarita Tres Frutas
In a Cocktail Shaker:
- Fill 1/4 way with crushed ice
- 1 1/2 Shots Tradicional Tequila (Jose Cuervo)
- 1 Shot Grand Gala (Orange Liquor)
- 1 Shot FRESH squeezed Grapefruit Juice
- 1 Shot FRESH squeezed Orange Juice
- 1/2 Shot FRESH squeezed Lime Juice
Add all ingredients in your cocktail shaker….as always…shake shake shake.
Let it rest in the freezer while you prepare your glasses. (We used Traditional Margarita Glasses) Rim them with a mixture of course salt and sugar.
Strain the fresh fruitilicious liquid into your glasses.
For Virgin Version: Eliminate the Tequila and Orange Liquor. Replace the Orange Liquor with an Orange Simple Syrup (orange zest, equal parts sugar and water – simmer and cool)
To Make It Special:
Garnish with lime wheel, and an edible flower – such as a Nasturtium…adds beauty to the drink.
Your tastebuds will come alive with the first sip of this fresh fruit concoction. The tart zip of the lime hits right away…and the other fruit juices compliment so nicely…its a “citrus fruit party”…in your mouth. The Tradicional Tequila is SMOOTH and the Orange Liquor…sweetens it all up.
This drink will be one you are proud to serve with your family and friends. It is Muy Bien!!! Ci.
