Seafair LemonBlue Aid

I LOVE Seafair!!! Of COURSE I do!….I’m a Seattlelite through and through! Nothing personifies Seattle more than this particular month long event. We wait all winter long for our Precious Seattle Summer. I have been a boater since I moved here 21 years ago, and rain or shine, make a point to hit Lake Washington to see the Hydro Races and especially, to drink in the ROAR of The Blue Angels. I get choked up everytime I see them fly by..and feel the roar of the thunderous F/A-18 Hornet engines..it really is a spectacle that makes me proud to be American!! ESPECIALLY an American living in Seattle!! How lucky we are to see them every year…Oh, did I mention that watching them makes me very thirsty??? SO – I concocted this special drink to honor our Military Men and Women…and especially as a Salute…to The Blue Angels.. I made this AFTER boating…when we got home. It was a great day on the Lake with my friend Kelly of www.nommynom.com fame…she made tasty herb roasted nuts to enjoy with these delicious drinks!!

In a cocktail shaker:

  • 1 Cup Fresh Lemonade -(I used Simply Lemonade Brand…use your favorite) infused with fresh mint.
  • 1 Tablespoon (estimated amount) Blueberry Syrup – (I used Swedish Blueberry Concentrate -HAFI brand from IKEA)
  • 1 Shot Limoncello
  • 1 1/2 Shots Vodka
  • Fresh Lemon Juice – a squeeze

I start this recipe a day ahead by cutting fresh mint from my yard and adding it to the bottle of lemonade to infuse overnight.
Add the minty fresh lemonade, vodka, limoncello and fresh lemon juice to your shaker. Shake vigorously and place back in the freezer…(I know!!! It’s hard to wait…but you must!!! It develops this viscosity that just “makes” the drink..30 minutes..you can do it!!) THEN…when the drink mixture is all frosty with it’s “fruzhenglazeny” texture(slushy…for first time followers). Give it one last good shake and pour into a bucket glass. Then, slowly drizzle the blueberry syrup over the drink…it will trickle down and settle in the bottom of the glass…BE-U-TI-FUL!!

For Virgin Version -Use Lemon Symple Syrup in place of Limoncello (equal parts water and sugar with lot’s of fresh lemon zest…simmer) AND, eliminate the vodka.

To Make Is Special: Garnish with fresh lemon zest and and 6 frozen blueberries…each blueberry represents an Angel!!!
